After our 9 hour drive to Little Rock, Deas and I decided to head to Hot Springs and stay there for a few days. We found a great campsite at the Gulpha Gorge campground inside the Hot Springs National Forest. There were several trails you could access from the campsite, so we took the dogs on a hike.

The next day we rented a car and drove to the section of the park that contains Bathhouse Row, which are the bath houses that were built in the early 1900s. A few of these bathhouses are still operational, and you can get a warm mineral bath along with massages, manicures, and facials. We opted not to do the baths as it was a warm day, and the thought of sitting in a bathtub with a bunch of tourists just wasn’t that appealing to me. At the Quapaw bathhouse you can pay extra for a private bath, and as the receptionist made a point of repeatedly telling me, clothing is optional in the private baths.
After walking around we had a fantastic lunch at Rolando’s Nuevo Latino. The backyard patio was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the margaritas were cheap. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re ever in the area.

There are several places in town where you can bottle your own hot springs water for free. We carry several water jugs on the RV with us, so of course you know Deas wanted to take advantage of this! We went back into town the next day and filled up several bottles. I had a glass last night and it really is quite good.

And then there’s this…..

These definitely give me my smile for the day! 😊 Keep ’em coming! Glad you dodged the tornados.
