February in Florida

      1. We were at Sebastian Inlet for five days last October. How were the noseeum bugs in February? We got absolutely hammered by them. Still didn’t want to leave, though…

        1. They weren’t bad at all when we were there, but it was pretty windy most of the time. I saw a review on Campendium where someone said the noseeums were bad in January, so we may have just gotten lucky!

  1. Sounds like a good trip so far. I really loved reading about it. I love Sebastian Inlet. It is beautiful. I camped there years ago with my folks. Last time we were over that way, we didn’t camp. Just visited. Have fun in the Keys!!

  2. It’s so amazing that you got to see the whales that close! We’ll have to keep some of those campgrounds in mind for next winter.

  3. Sounds like you had a blast! Awesome seeing the whales! Ortona South COE, at the next lock to the east has the same dump station restrictions except I think it’s $20 if you want to dump when you arrive. They do let you walk out onto the lock gates there which we thought was pretty cool.

    1. We’ve heard great things about Ortona but never could get a reservation there – I think we were pretty lucky to get the one at WP Franklin – most of the people that we met there camped there every year. That’s neat that you can walk onto the lock gates – couldn’t do that at Franklin.

  4. Great post! I really enjoyed this post and reading about your time in Florida. What a treat to see a mother whale and her calf! I loved the video. You found some great places to camp. We camped at Sebastian Inlet over 30 years ago in a pop up. It looks much nicer than I remember! A few years ago we camped at Ortona in Labelle, one of the other COE parks on the canal and loved it.

  5. I just finished Binge Reading your entire Blog! What a treat and very inspirational! My wife and I are in the beginning stages of planning our big get away! Not sure when it will start, but we are already excited to be on the path! I enjoyed reading about all your adventures to date! Maybe we will see you on the road some day soon!

    1. Awesome, thank you so much and glad you enjoyed reading it! We spent a year or 2 reading blogs ourselves before we hit the road – it’s a great way to get information. Good luck and yes hopefully we’ll meet somewhere on the road one day!
